San Francisco Long Term Care Ombudsman Program

Organization/Sponsor: San Francisco Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program

Detailed Description:

  • Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Consider becoming a volunteer for the SF Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated volunteers like you to advocate for the well-being of older adults living in long-term care facilities. Be the eyes and ears of your older peers!

  • Ombudsmen are advocates who visit residents living in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living and board and care homes. Ombudsmen visit facilities regularly and are trained to identify and address concerns and complaints raised by residents or their families and work with facility staff and administrators to find solutions.

  • Volunteers complete a free State-mandated training program, which includes topics such as resident rights, elder abuse prevention, communication skills, and advocacy strategies.
