  • Web address: Encore.org/encore-physicians-program/

  • Detailed Description: Recently retired physicians with active medical licenses who would like to work part-time as paid medical providers up to two days a week in Bay Area community health centers can be placed through the Encore Physicians. To date, the program has been warmly embraced by retired physicians - largely, but not entirely, TPMG doctors - and by community health centers providing care for underserved patients.

There are 19 Encore Program physicians currently working up to two days per week and six others in stages of privileging and credentialing in the Bay Area.

  • Medical Specialty: Most FQHCs need additional Primary Care Physicians: Family and Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Behavioral Health, and Pediatrics. However, there are targeted needs for specialists in a number of centers, and all interested physicians are urged to apply.

  • Location: Presently East, North, and South Bay, SF and will begin recruiting retired physicians in the Sacramento region for the community health centers there beginning in the first quarter of 2023.

  • Time Required: Up to two days per week for one year with possibility of flexible schedules.

Any recently retired physician seeking more information or interested in pursuing this retirement opportunity to work in a community health center in the Bay Area, please contact one of the retired TPMG physician directors for the Encore Physicians Program or visit the web page.
